Places We Serve
Each trip has between seven and thirty people traveling to Honduras to provide help of medicines and medical equipment funded by First Presbyterian Church’s general budget and special offerings.
We serve a County in southern Honduras that houses two of the eighteen Presbyterian Churches in Honduras.
In 2007 a group of members from First Presbyterian Church, recognizing the needs of this county in Honduras, decided to expand the mission. An organization called Central American Relief Efforts was formed to increase the amount of humanitarian aid to the county of Choluteca Honduras. In 2008 Central American Relief Efforts and First Presbyterian Church provided over $300,000 in medicines, medical supplies, dental equipment and supplies, and medical clinic renovations to this County in southern Honduras.
in July and immediately went into service. Our group of medical missionaries used the van for transportation to medical clinics throughout the region.
The van will be used to transport children to dental and
eye clinics. These children have so few resources that
they cannot afford transportation to medical facilities.
Purchase and rehabilitation cost of the van was a joint project of the FPC Sunday School, the church’s 2007 Peacemaking Offering, and funds raised at a party honoring Bridget Keating.
The FPC van got a warm reception from a kindergarten class whose members received
fluoride treatments, dental instruction,
toothbrushes and toothpaste.
